Blackmores I-Folic contains both iodine and folic acid, which are important preconception nutrients. Iodine is an essential nutrient required for normal thyroid function, and is important for a baby’s brain development, visual skills, motor skills and hearing. Folic acid, if taken daily for 1 month prior to conception and during pregnancy, may reduce the risk of women having a child with birth defects of the brain and/or spinal cord, such as spina bifida.
