Fruit bat / flying fox The flying fox/fruit bat are primates related to lemurs. They have a 1 metre wingspan and can fly over 50kms a night while feeding. During the day they group together in camps- hanging upside down from branches of trees. They have excellent vision and feed on nectar- pollen- fruit and leaves- and are usually very noisy. They are vital for rainforests- as they spread seeds and pollen over long distances. Measures 8"/ 20cm
