This climbing technique course is for those children who have grasped the fundamentals and have a desire to see themselves improve, the training will be still be fun but we will be motivating each individual child to get the best out of themselves and to reach their climbing goals. Cass Crane will be the Leader/Coach for this program. She has had major success at State and National level Climbing championships and is very successful in passing on the skills and tips needed to improve within a fun and encourgaing environment Aim: To improve the overall climbing ability of the students. The program will focus on technique, strength, endurance and general climbing movement and will be tailored to suit each individual. Duration: 8 weeks. 11/2 hour sessions When: Wednesday afternoon Time TBA Where: Kangaroo Point for 5 out of the 8 sessions. An indoor gym (e.g The Gap) for the remaining 3 sessions.The following is the basic outline of the program but will change to suit the needs of the kids. Week 1: Kangaroo Point ? Provide a safety demonstration and go over general rules and logistics of the sessions. ? Make short and long term goals. ? Top rope on some climbs and gauge standard and areas for improvement. Week 2: Kangaroo Point ? Start lead climbing ? Focus on what needs to be improved. E.g. if the climber could improve their footwork their activities will concentrate on this. (There will be a number of focuses for each climber). ? Handouts will also be provided detailing the theory of what they will be learning. E.g. A footwork handout Week 3: Indoor climbing session ? Very specific training activities will be used in these sessions. The activities carried out will depend on the resources available at the climbing gym. ?
