Features
The top-of-the-line Mju Tough 8000, is the eighth Tough model to be released to the Australian market and is built to absorb all the punishment the world can throw at it. From the tranquil to the turbulent, this extraordinarily rugged camera is as tough as they come.
Better yet, Olympus has been able to successfully incorporate a Dual Shakeproof CCD-shift image stabilisation mechanism into the camera, a feature previously thought to be technically impossible in a shockproof camera.
This has been combined with the high-sensitivity shooting inherited from the Mju Tough 1030SW to create the Dual Shakeproof Image Stabilisation function, which allows active photographers to enjoy shooting without having to worry about camera shake even in difficult outdoor conditions or amongst underwater swells.
Essential shooting performance is supported by a wide-angle 28mm5 zoom lens with 3.6X optical zoom, ideal for underwater shooting when the angle of view is narrow, as well as for photographing wide landscapes or a group of people in a restricted space. High quality images are assured by the high-definition 12-megapixel CCD6 and proprietary Olympus TruePic III image processing engine. The new 2.7 inch HyperCrystal III LCD monitor features high brightness of 1000 cd/m2. offering twice the brightness of a conventional LCD monitor7, a wide 160-degree viewing angle, and an anti-reflection coating. Whether it's the brilliant glare reflecting from the snow on a ski hill or the darkness under water, this LCD monitor is always clear and easy to view, making it easy to compose shots in any kind of light.
