The Sony Ericsson W508 is the 29th "Walkman" branded phone to hit the market, and in most ways it is indistinguishable from last year's W980 model. If you are already familiar with the W980, then essentially the W508 comes with only 100MB of internal memory plus a 1GB Memory Stick Micro in the standard sales package, compared with the 8GB of non-expandable memory in the W980.
The Sony Ericsson W508i is a GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / EDGE with a 240 x 320 pixel 262 k colour TFT screen with 12 MB internal memory with up to 2 GB Memory Stick Micro support. The unit has a 4x digital zoom digital camera that allows picture blogging and video recording, RDS FM radio and video viewing/streaming, and polyphonic ringtones. This unit has connectivity via Bluetooth technology, Modem, no-SUCR, PictBridge, PC Synchronization, USB mass storage and USB support. The unit's battery provides up to 9 hours of talk time and 370 hours of standby time on GSM and EDGE.
The Sony Ericsson W508i features Email/MMS/SMS with RSS feed and web browsing on the internet capabilities. The handset also features Bluetooth stereo (A2DP), Mega Bass, PlayNow, Shake control, Supports music tones and TrackID?. The handsets Walkman music player provides users a digital music player that supports several file formats including MP3 and AAC. The MegaBass feature enhanced bass frequencies, adding depth and stereo widening through headphones or external speakers. The Shake control features allow users to randomly select music from a playlist with a flick of the wrist. TrackID music recognition identifies music (album and artist name) for users. The handset also features Flight Mode that allows users to use the unit (except for making/receiving calls) in ares with sensitive equipment, for instance in an airplane or in a hospital.
