The Tiger Moth was evolved from the Gipsy Moth a 1924 design and first flew in 1931. At the outbreak of WWII it was the basic trainer for all the airmen in the Commonwealth and was the last biplane trainer used by the RAAF. Tiger Moths were built in Australia under licence to equip the RAAF with a new basic trainer.
Our Tiger Moth was one of the first Australian built Tiger Moths, constructed on July 24 1940.
