Do I Need DisplayPort Cables?
DisplayPort is a competitor to HDMI in the digital audio/video connector stakes.
DisplayPort connectors are available on very few consumer devices and offer no picture quality advantage over HDMI, and in fact do not support some of HDMI's features, like CEC signals and x.v.YCC colour. On the bright side, a device that outputs a DisplayPort signal can be plugged into an HDMI port with a simple adapter, so don't worry too much about whether or not your next TV has a DisplayPort input.
