Should I Use DVI (Digital Visual Interface) Cables?
DVI is currently the de facto standard cable for transmitting digital video from a PC to a monitor or TV.
If you are using a PC and want to play games or watch movies, you can use an adapter to pass a DVI signal to an HDMI port, but unlike HDMI, it does not pass through sound. If you have an older high-definition television or monitor with only a DVI socket, and want to plug in a new HDMI device like a Blu-ray player, PVR or set-top box, you can use an HDMI-DVI adapter provided your display is HDCP-compliant.
