What is VCD (Video Compact Disc)?
In the days before DVD, some video was distributed on VCD. Due to the lack of space, quality was very poor compared to DVD and so the format is now considered obsolete. Most DVD players are still able to play back VCDs, so if you have a stash of them lying around you needn't worry too much about not being able to play them.
