What Is The VGA/D-Sub/D-Subminiature Socket For?
VGA is the standard analogue 15-pin video connector (usually blue) found on computers.
VGA cable's advantages are almost universal compatibility (nearly all desktop and laptop computers have them, as do most HDTVs) and the capability to transmit almost any resolution or refresh rate. Disadvantages are pin breakage, susceptibility to interference and an inability to transmit video with HDCP. The fifty year-old analogue VGA standard is now finally being replaced by the fully digital DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors.
