Pepper Tree 2010 'Elderslee Road' Wrattonbully Cabernet SauvignonFrom $36
The Elderslee Road vineyard is home to our best Cabernet. Elderslee Road runs along one of the ancient dunes or shorelines that make up the Wrattonbully landscape. These ancient dunes harbour the famed red "Terra Rossa" topsoil over free draining Gamiber limestone, perfectly suited to growing great Cabernet.Ripe cabernet flavours of cassis and blackberry with chocolate and spicy oak lift. A marvellously rich palate packed with sweet ripe berry fruits balanced by French oak. Fine tannins provide great structure and depth to the long and generous palate.
MONTEVERTINE LE PERGOLE TORTE 2011From $179.99
MONTEVERTINE LE PERGOLE TORTE 2011: A red wine made ??from specially selected grapes of Sangiovese grape. Its bouquet is persistent and soft. Aromas of violets and raspberries, as well as spices such as cinnamon and vanilla emanate from the glass. On the palate it's intense, velvety and warm. A rarity and one should put a bottle for that special occasion in the basement.
KAESLER OLD BASTARD SHIRAZ 2012From $199.99
KAESLER OLD BASTARD SHIRAZ 2012: Colour: Crimson and garnet with a dark edge Nose: Fresh smelling colours of red and blue, raspberry, blueberry and strawberry picked straight from the bush, braced with rhubarb Palate: The palate is focussed and the tannin acid relationship is far more apparent than this vineyard has metabolised in the past. The tannin is talc, fine and delicate. The acid pronounced but not sour, it is determined and binds the tannin up leaving a tangy, pure exit. Notes: 2012 was an amazing year to witness all we have strived for in our vineyards. A dry year required less irrigation than we would have used normally, insect populations were around but managed by our resident magpie population with spider assistance, and the wines of 2012 have an acid tannin relationship and purity that we have not seen in our wines before. Outstanding.

WILD DUCK CREEK ESTATE YELLOW HAMMER HILL SHIRAZ MALBEC 2012From $32.99
WILD DUCK CREEK ESTATE YELLOW HAMMER HILL SHIRAZ MALBEC 2012: Yellow Hammer Hill was the collective vision of Duck and some long-time friends and fellow ‘agricultural drinkers’. The Yellow Hammer Hill block is situated near our oldest vineyard, the Alan’s Cabernet Vineyard. The first vines were planted in 1996, after ‘Effa’ the Fordson Major tractor, had cleared the land of Chinese heath some months earlier. Shiraz and Malbec were chosen as the varieties of choice due to their wonderful complimentary characteristics. The fruit-driven fullness of Shiraz and floral notes and wonderful texture of Malbec, lend themselves to a wine that is delightful when consumed in early years, and develops into a brooding complexity of spice and fruit after cellaring.
WILD DUCK CREEK ESTATE SPRINGFLAT SHIRAZ 2012From $54.99
WILD DUCK CREEK ESTATE SPRINGFLAT SHIRAZ 2012: Prior to deciding which wines will ultimately be made each vintage, Duck and Liam analyze their fruity concoctions so as to make the best Springflat Shiraz possible. The uniqueness of this wine results from parcels of fruit being sourced from eight other sites across the Heathcote region, stretching from Colbinnabbin to Mia Mia. These vineyards are living in various soil types ranging from the rich ‘cambrian’ volcanic soils of the north, to the dense, acidic, granite and quartz-laden clays of the south. This allows the Springflat Shiraz to express a rainbow of richness for which the Heathcote region is famous.
OCEAN EIGHT PINOT NOIR 2012From $41.99
OCEAN EIGHT PINOT NOIR 2012: Deep and dark in colour, a true 'burgundy' hue with blood red tending to maroon. There is just a little cloudiness which is an indication that the wine has been bottled without filtration and fining in order to retain as much flavour as possible. At this youthful stage the wine is very fruit dominant in aromas with raspberries and red cherries being the most apparent. Underpinning the fruitiness is some autumnal dried leaf and earthiness. A chewy layered texture defines the palate which has abundant weight and intensity. The fruit is very much to fore when tasting the wine along the dried leaf with just a subtle hint of char from a little bit of oak. Overall it is already a very complex wine. The finish sees a firm grip from grape tannin and good crisp acid and both these factors will assist the wines aging potential. Give this wine a decant to aerate the wine and soften the tannin. A perfect wine to match superbly with a soft creamy cheese.

IZWAY BRUCE SHIRAZ 2012From $47.99
IZWAY BRUCE SHIRAZ 2012: 2012 is probably the first vintage since the inception of Izway in 2003 where a weather event has not significantly influenced the quality of the fruit. The 2012 wines consequently have wonderful purity and energy and we regard them as being purely terroir driven; the weather has not influenced the ripening as significantly and the soils and sites have shone through. The wines don’t have the flash of 2009 or the depth of 2010 but they have personality and vitality and accurately reflect the place they are from. In 2010 we managed to secure a fantastic parcel of grapes that completes this wine and will no doubt elevate ‘Bruce’ to legendary status. The Schubert Block 3 Shiraz is located in Marananga on the famous Roennfeldt Road and, along with our fruit from the Izway Home Block, provides the backbone and structure in the 2012 Bruce. Both blocks have piercing high tone aromatics and amazing tannin structure. These characteristics balance perfectly with the depth and concentration that we get from the original Bruce vineyard; the Kalleske family’s ‘Bruce’ block. With the assistance of the new Schubert Vineyard, the 2012 Bruce displays a balance between power and elegance; the trademark of great Barossa Shiraz.Craig and Brian - Izway Wines
