GARAGISTE LE STAGIAIRE PINOT NOIR 2013From $28.99
GARAGISTE LE STAGIAIRE PINOT NOIR 2013: The fruit for the La Stagiaire Pinot originates predominantly from Garagiste's Balnarring and Tuerong vineyards, with a small proportion of Merricks and Red Hill. The grapes were sorted then destemmed and fermented in small open fermenters using indigenous yeast, minimal hand plunging, and the must/wine spent 21 days on skins. Also bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is brilliant value Mornington: super delicious, aromatic and sweetly fruited, showing even more seductive fruit than in 2012. Good underlying matter for the level and overall the wine is fresh and racy with nice savoury dryness to close.
SOME YOUNG PUNKS THE SQUIDS FIST SANGIOVESE SHIRAZ 2013From $21.99
SOME YOUNG PUNKS THE SQUIDS FIST SANGIOVESE SHIRAZ 2013: For the first time, Shiraz takes the drivers wheel in the Squidtastic 2013. This year's blend is a merger of Shiraz (60%) and Sangiovese (40%), both from John Hage's vineyard in Kalimna. Each variety was matured separately before blending prior to bottling. "Pretty sharp little ferments, about 8 days on skins and pressed into stainless steel. The wine spent a little time in stainless before being racked into old French oak barriques for maturation", says Col. Squid's Fist 2013 is a typically deep, seductive wine, with layers of silken fruit and stacks of vibrant energy. Dangerously gluggable.
SPINIFEX BETE NOIR SHIRAZ 2012From $33.99
SPINIFEX BETE NOIR SHIRAZ 2012: Pete Schell's Bête Noir is 70% Shiraz from old vine, elevated and lighter textured soils in the Barossa hills blended with 30% Eden Valley Shiraz. The latter inclusion adds smoky black fruits, spice and balancing freshness to this year's version. It's a perfumed, captivating wine with last-man-standing confidence of a truly exciting vintage. The wine was raised in French oak puncheons (30-40% new) with 35% whole bunch fermentation, which has brought a delicious tangy, savoury note to the finish. "Perfect crimson-purple; the fragrant and impressive bouquet leads into a medium-bodied palate with mesmerising texture and mouthfeel, with juicy, glossy red and black fruits cascading through a latticework of fine, foresty/savoury tannins." 96 points, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2015
DEVIATION ROAD ALTAIR BRUT ROSEFrom $27.99
DEVIATION ROAD ALTAIR BRUT ROSE: This wine is predominantly made from Pinot Noir with a small percentage of Chardonnay grapes added for finesse. We select the fruit from the cool south-facing slopes high in the Adelaide Hills. Sweet strawberry, cherry and spice aromas follow through to the palate, where the lively bubbles add lift and balance to these fruit flavours. This wine has wonderful length and supple mouth feel.
DEVIATION ROAD LOFTIA VINTAGE BRUT 2011From $35.99
DEVIATION ROAD LOFTIA VINTAGE BRUT 2011: The 2011 Loftia is a blend of 52% Pinot Noir and 48% Chardonnay grapes selected from the cool south-facing slopes high in the Adelaide Hills. Ageing for a minimum of 18 months on lees adds complex nut and toasty hints to the sweet cherry and crisp green apple fruit aromas. The palate is crisp, with a lingering, mouth-watering finish. A persistent fine bead and creamy mousse gives extra lift to these delicious aromas and flavours.
