The Best Power Tools on The Market
In my quest to compile a list of the “best of the best” as far as power tools are concerned, I had to first establish what makes a power tool the best.
In my quest to compile a list of the “best of the best” as far as power tools are concerned, I had to first establish what makes a power tool the best. And what is it the best of/at? Who is it best for? Best for the money? Best for a particular job? No doubt that dependability, performance, manufacturer’s warranty, accessibility and power weigh heavily in the decision.
Cordless Drills and Drivers
The basic cordless drill is one of the more versatile power tools on the market. As far as popularity goes, you will find one or more in most homes and businesses. Their uses are innumerable. Whether you are hanging a picture or curtain to remodelling your bathroom, the job will be easier and faster if you use one of these power tools. There are drills that can handle heavy construction work and ones that are lightweight and compact, perfect for smaller jobs.
Bosch offers an 18V Litheon Cordless Drill for under two hundred dollars. This one is considered the best for the money. It has power, balance and is affordable. The DeWalt has a 20V Max. It’s a popular version of a powerful drill with a slide pack battery. The best of the best cordless drill has to be the Festool 18V Cordless Drill. This drill is German engineered for precision. It has outstanding power and efficiency with an incomparable run time per battery charge. The price is steep though somewhere around $655. Few people may be willing to pay this price and will choose another popular brand that does the same job well, but I’d like to try this baby out.
Cordless/corded Jig Saw
The jigsaw is another extremely popular and versatile power tool. Features to look for in the best jigsaw would be higher amp rating, variable speed blades, orbital action, vacuum to contain sawdust, and blade supports to stabilize the blade. The Bosch 1590 EVSK 6.4 amp jigsaw is precise, powerful and one of the most desired jigsaws at an approximate price of $145.
DeWalt 18V Cordless Jigsaw is offered at $210. Again best of the best goes to Festool Trion PS/PSB 300 EQ. First the Trion comes in a case called a Systainer.
The Festoon line of tools all comes in these Systainers which allows them to be stacked and locked to each other for storage. It includes a removable power cord, chip guard, splinter guard, dust port adapter, extra blades and of course an instruction manual. The 6 amp motor adjusts itself according to the load capacity. The detachable cord is 13 feet long. The price tag for the jigsaw and dust extractor is $650.
Cordless Circular Saw
The Makita BSS61118V Circular Saw is equipped with a L.E.D. light to increase visibility, a dust blower to send the sawdust out of the line of sight and a brake that eliminates blade run-off after the button is released. It is priced reasonably at $108. DeWalt produces a similar product at a similar price. These saws are a very good choice for the money and can handle most jobs safely and accurately. Again the high-end Festool 561174 TS 55 EQ Plunge Cut Circular Saw at $525, a mere $1050 if you include the mobile dust extractor, is the top of the line. By creating a line of exceptional power tools they continue to be best of the best. They are able to achieve professional results and come with many extras.
Practicality With Craftsman
Not to be ignored, Craftsman from Sears “The Good Life at a Great Price” has a combo kit with 19.2V reciprocating saw, drill, circular saw, and fluorescent work light for $140, batteries and charger are included. These are good, dependable tools and convenient because each of these power tools use the same battery.
So now you have a compilation of the best tools on the market. Best bargain, the number one and two choice of most consumers and the elitist best. Happy Shopping!
