Best streaming service in August 2024: what to subscribe to this month
Find out which service offers the most bang for your buck this month.

With the cost of living in Australia at an all-time high, many of us have found it necessary to cut back on spending wherever they can – and subscription streaming services have found themselves one of the first items on the chopping block.
Making matters worse, several of Australia's top streamers have raised their prices over the last year, making the prospect of simply cancelling all our subscriptions all the more tempting.
That said, we're of the opinion that you shouldn't have to cut entertainment out of your life entirely – the best course of action is to simply pause your subscriptions during content-light months and reactivate when there's plenty of good stuff to watch.
Our money-saving advice? Stick to one or two active subscriptions per month and make sure they've got plenty of new shows and movies to keep you entertained during that time.
Of course, keeping track of everything that's coming out on all the services is no small task. Luckily, we've done the hard work for you.
We've sifted through release schedules for Netflix, Disney Plus, Binge, Foxtel Now, Stan, Apple TV Plus and Amazon Prime Video so that we can hand-pick the service most worthy of your hard-earned dollars this month.
So which streamer takes that honour this month?
