Crocs have made a massive comeback in recent years, and after resisting the hype for way too long, I finally gave in at Christmas when I was gifted a pair of Classic Clogs.
And look, I get it now. They’re ridiculously comfortable and super easy to throw on, but if I’m being honest, mine don’t get a whole lot of wear outside of the house, barring the rare trip to the beach (and then only when I can’t find my thongs.)
So when Crocs invited me to check out their new Classic Crafted Clogs at an event last night, I wasn’t expecting to love the new style as much as I do.
The Crafted Clogs keep the same familiar silhouette and comfy fit as the Classic Clog, complete with the pivoting heel strap, but swap the usual rubbery Croslite material upper for a washed canvas made from 100% textile alternative - either soft-washed canvas or vegan suede. The result is a textured, more elevated look that doesn’t scream “I threw these on as I was rushing out the door.”
In fact, I’d go so far as to say these might be the first pair of Crocs Clogs I’d confidently wear somewhere other than the supermarket.
The coolest part is that the canvas and suede uppers are designed to be customised with markers or paint, so you can completely make them your own. At the launch event, people were going all out using stencils, doodling, creating tiny artworks and colourful patterns, and no two pairs looked the same.
The canvas Classic Crafted Clogs come in three colours – Black Sand, Stucco, and Aloe – and if you’re planning to be creative, the Stucco colour is probably the best for showing off your inner artist. There are also already-patterned options for those who want something a bit more detailed and colourful but don’t want to come up with their own design, including the Classic Crafted Floral Clog in Frappe and the Crafted Daisy Clog in Mauve.
With an Australian recommended retail price of $99.99, they’re on the slightly pricier side when it comes to Crocs. Despite being brand new, some retailers are already offering discounts (for example, The Iconic has various colours discounted by between 20% and 30%).
The vegan suede Crafted Clog range comes in three colours – Milk Chocolate, Black and Army Green – and costs slightly more, with an RRP of $104.99.
