These two excellent Lyca Mobile SIM-only deals show you don't need to spend big bucks for lots of data
And with Vodafone's expanded 5G network, the small telco's coverage is better than ever
If you’re keen to save money on your mobile plan without sacrificing your data allowance, Aussie telco Lyca Mobile is currently offering some sizable discounts on two of its most appealing plans.
We maintain buying guides of the best Australian mobile plans for different price points, and Lyca has basically dunked on the competition with these two great deals.
We’ve included Lyca’s 80GB, 28-day plan in our guide to the best mobile plans under $30 per month. We're slightly bending the rules with this one, as its 28-day renewal cycle means the average cost technically works out to be slightly more than that over the first year ($30.59 per month). However, its generous data allowance makes it an exceptional-value plan for the price – and better yet, it's currently discounted down to $6 for your first 28-day period.
We have also included Lyca’s 600GB 365-day plan in our best mobile plans under $15 per month guide because it well and truly trumps all others in this price range due to its very generous 50GB monthly data allowance.
If either sounds appealing, here are the important details:
Lyca Mobile’s 80GB plan costs $30 per 28 day renewal. It's the cheapest plan we have seen that offers close to this much data, with the next best option being SpinTel's 50GB plan, which is priced at $29 per month.
What makes this Lyca plan even more attractive is the current 80% discount on the first 28 days, bringing the price down to only $6. That’s an exceptionally cheap $0.08 per GB for that introductory period, after which you’re still only paying a very competitive $0.37. Lyca also allows you to rollover up to 500GB of unused data (provided you recharge before the expiry date, or within a 48-hour grace period) so any leftover data won’t go to waste. Another bonus is that it runs on Vodafone’s 5G network, although note that this is speed capped at 100Mbps.
If you prefer a 365-day plan so you can set and forget (or want to get the best per-month value) Lyca has also discounted its 600GB 365-day plan. Usually costing $360, it’s currently 50% off, bringing it down to just $180. That’s the equivalent of just $15 per month for 50GB per month – great value, with each GB costing only $0.30.
For a 365-day plan, it is worth noting that this one is a bit unique, however, as it breaks up the data allowance into chunks of 50GB per month. Some users may actually find that handier, because it means you won’t be able to burn through all the data before the end of the 365 days. This plan also runs on Vodafone’s 5G network, and you can roll over up to 500GB of unused data, so any leftover data from each month can be saved for a later date. Bear in mind that if you want to renew the plan after the first year, the second-year renewal will cost the full $360.
