TPG's revised mobile offerings finally include 5G – and one particularly great plan for big data lovers
And there’s extra benefits for TPG internet customers

With most major telco’s plan prices having recently risen, many Aussies now find themselves paying hefty mobile bills just to ensure they have enough data to get through the month. But if you’re with Telstra, Optus or Vodafone, it really does pay to shop around, as you can often find a cheaper plan that will get you the data you need for a lot less.
TPG has long been a top option for those looking to shave down their mobile bill, and the telco has recently revised and simplified its mobile plan offerings. New subscribers can now choose from three prepaid plans, all of which arguably offer good value for money.
- TPG 25GB mobile plan |
$25$12.50 for the first 6 months - TPG 50GB mobile plan |
$35$17.50 for the first 6 months - TPG 100GB mobile plan |
$45$25 for the first 6 months
Making these plans even more attractive, TPG currently has an excellent introductory offer that slashes 50% off the regular plan price for the first 6 months, with total potential savings of up to $150.
The Medium and Large plans now also include 5G access and run on the Vodafone 5G network so you can (theoretically) enjoy faster speeds and a more reliable connection. Customers who sign up for one of these two plans who also have a TPG internet plan will continue to get a $5 discount per month on their mobile plans after the introductory offer ends.
If one plan in particular stands out in terms of value, it’s the 100GB for $45 option. When you factor in the 6-month introductory discount, that brings your average monthly price for the first year down to just $33.75, or $0.34 per GB of data. That makes it the cheapest 100GB plan in our database for the first year – albeit by just a few cents, with SpinTel’s and Moose Mobile’s 100GB plans nipping closely at TPG’s heels.
Here are the full details on TPG’s new mobile plans:
TPG Small Plan | 25GB | $12.50p/m for the first 6 months (then $25 per month) This small TPG mobile plan is currently 50% off for the first six months, meaning you only pay $12.50 per month for 25GB of data, which equals only $0.50 per GB. After the first six months, the price goes up to $25 per month. For the first six months, this is the cheapest plan we have seen that offers 25GB of data and after the initial discount it is still slightly cheaper than the current average of $1.03 for 25GB plans. If you can get by with 25GB per month and want to save a bit of money on a mobile plan, this one’s good value – although note that it’s 4G only with speed capped to 150Mbps.
Total cost for first year: $225
TPG Medium Plan | 50GB | $17.50p/m for the first 6 months (then $35 per month) TPG’s Medium Plan comes with 50GB of data and is currently only $17.50 per month for the first 6 months, which is a very good deal. After the first six months, that monthly price goes up to $35 which is still one of the cheapest 50GB plans available. This TPG plan also now includes 5G so you can get faster internet speeds up to 150Mbps.
Total cost for first year: $315
TPG Large Plan | 100GB | $22.50p/m for the first 6 months (then $45 per month)If you need a lot of data but don’t want to spend too much, TPG’s large plan is a good choice. Currently 50% off for the first six months, you’ll only be paying $22.50 per month for 100GB of data, which equals a frankly tiny $0.23 per GB. After the first six months, the plan cost rises to $45 per month which is still very reasonable and slightly below the current $46.54 average for a plan with this amount of data.
Total cost for first year: $405
