  1. Canon EOS 70D Digital Camera

During the early days of digital SLRs, Canon was pretty much the undisputed leader in CMOS image sensor technology. Almost every new EOS model came with an increase in resolution and high ISO range, and when the EOS 7D appeared in late 2009, the company had progressed from 3MP to 18MP, and ISO 1600 to ISO 12800, in just over nine years. But since then Canon's APS-C cameras have all sported variants on the same basic sensor design, to the extent that you could be forgiven for wondering what on earth their engineers were doing all day. Now we know.

  5. The Canon BG-BGE14 Battery Grip is an optional battery grip with improved ergonomics designed specifically for the Canon EOS 70D and 80D. It allows users to load a choice of one or two LP-E6 battery packs. With two packs, the already-impressive battery life is doubled, compared to using a single LP-E6 pack in-camera. This is especially useful when taking advantage of the camera's movie mode or Live View mode - operating modes that use more power. In addition, with the included battery magazine, you can also run the camera off six AA batteries or the optional ACK-E6 AC Adapter Kit for continuous power. This BG-E14 battery grip also provides full vertical shooting controls, which can be independently turned on or off as the photographer needs to enhance camera handling, especially for shooting vertical pictures. It has a large number of operating controls as well: shutter button, main dial, multi-controller, AF point selection button, AE lock/FE lock button, AF start button, and multi-function button.

  7. The EOS 70D is a mid-range SLR for enthusiast photographers that is an upgrade to the EOS 60D. It borrows many of the best elements from Canon's existing SLRs, including the autofocus sensor from the EOS 7D, the articulated touchscreen from the EOS 700D (Rebel T5i), and built-in Wi-Fi from the EOS 6D. Inside, however, is a new sensor that offers 20.2MP resolution, but uses a Dual Pixel CMOS AF design in which each pixel is split into two separately-readable photodiodes, capable of phase detection autofocus in Live View and movie mode, working across 80% of the frame in very low light levels and apertures down to F11. The camera functions as a conventional SLR, too, using a 19-point AF sensor for viewfinder shooting. Capable of firing off shots at 7fps for up to 65 frames in JPEG or 16 in RAW, its standard ISO range covers 100 - 12800, with ISO 25600 as an expanded option. Image processing is via a DIGIC 5+ processor. It has a full set of external controls to operate most key functions, with the Quick Control screen covering most other functions. It features an excellent touchscreen interface.
