Sleater-Kinney's new record 'No Cities To Love' is the first in 10 years from the acclaimed trio – Brownstein, vocalist/guitarist Corin Tucker, and drummer Janet Weiss – who came crashing out of the '90s Pacific Northwest riot grrrl scene, setting a new bar for punk's political insight and emotional impact. Seemingly out of the blue, 'No Cities To Love' was recorded in secret at Tiny Telephone Recordings in San Francisco in early 2014. It features all the original members that have worked on the band's most riveting and explosive work, including 'The Woods' and 'Dig Me Out'. The new record was produced by John Goodmanson who produced many of the bands earlier records including their 1997 classic 'Dig Me Out.'The first single from the album, "Bury Our Friends," is a searing track that showcases the extent of Sleater-Kinney's ability to turn a guitar into a whiplash-inducing cyclone of sound. Formed in Olympia, WA in 1994, Sleater-Kinney were hailed as "America's best rock band" by Greil Marcus in Time Magazine, and put out seven searing albums in 10 years before going on indefinite hiatus in 2006.

  7. Adelaide's proudest rock'n'roll flag bearers Grenadiers are primed to release their hard-won third LP 'Find Something You Love And Let It Kill You!' Adelaide's proudest rock'n'roll flag bearers Grenadiers are primed to release their hard-won third LP 'Find Something You Love And Let It Kill You!' This record has been a long time coming. A series of recording sessions. A mixing debacle. Financial woes. The usual headaches faced by an independent band, turned up to 11. Ever the no-bullshit frontman, Jesse Coulter rounded it all up perfectly... "At one point I wanted to call the album "Dentistry" because the whole thing was like pulling teeth. Like passing a kidney stone the size of a fucking basketball. But we got there. It's done. And now we're going to put the thing out, and that feels GOOD." The resulting album mines the crisp but gritty sounds of classic rock records, with the lads' suburban punk and hardcore roots front and centre. It boasts challenging and acerbic themes, wrapped snugly in a veneer of straight-up, raucous rock'n'roll. There's a little tongue-in-cheek ('Drunk & Broke'), a little sarcasm (Live Fast, Diabetes'), and a lot of fun. Brisk, brash and anchored by Jesse Coulter's unmistakable whiskey'n'smokes growl. Seven years in the game and Grenadiers are firing. 'Find Something You Love and Let It Kill You' is undeniable evidence that Australian rock is as alive and kicking harder than ever. Don't listen to the false facts coming through your TV screens; listen to Grenadiers.

  8. In the last few years, Imogen Clark has been touted as one of the most promising young songwriters in Australia, now on the cusp of wider critical acclaim with the forthcoming release of her debut album, 'Love & Lovely Lies.' In the last few years, Imogen Clark has been touted as one of the most promising young songwriters in Australia, now on the cusp of wider critical acclaim with the forthcoming release of her debut album, 'Love & Lovely Lies.' Imogen's music inhabits a place where different roots-based genres intersect and blend into her own distinct sound. There is the self-confessed nod to the folk influence that Joni Mitchell has had on her music, yet fast forward quarter of a century and the modern Americana styles of songwriters such as Ryan Adams and Gillian Welch have clearly also had a strong impact on Imogen's own writing. That ability to absorb the old and the new is what forms the timeless quality of Imogen's music. "Take Me For A Ride" is the first single to be released from 'Love & Lovely Lies,' and it showcases the sound she has been able to achieve right across her new album. Classic, chiming rock 'n' roll guitar chords complement Imogen's energetic vocal delivery, lifting the song into a soaring chorus built on an emotive alt-country melody and free-spirited optimism. Capturing the pain and joy of entering adulthood, navigating the stormy waters of young love, the search for self-belief and finding one's place in the world are all themes Imogen conveys with her richly melodic voice and lyrics. She has the ability to sound fragile and vulnerable and then, just as effectively; deliver lines that exude emotional strength with a deep and soulful resonance. The range and conviction throughout her songs is what has already drawn many to Imogen's songwriting and will capture the hearts and minds of new fans once they hear 'Love & Lovely Lies.'

  9. ARIA-award winning Sydney five-piece Boy & Bear return with 'Limit of Love,' their third studio, and follow up to 2013's 'Harlequin Dream' which debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart. ARIA-award winning Sydney five-piece Boy & Bear return with 'Limit of Love,' their third studio, and follow up to 2013's 'Harlequin Dream' which debuted at #1 on the ARIA chart. Following a massive touring schedule in 2014- 170 shows across three continents – Boy & Bear decided to take the momentum they gathered on the road directly into the studio teaming up with renowned producer Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs) at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studio. Their intention, to cut a record the old fashion way – live in the studio, straight to tape, with virtually no overdubs. The challenge paid off as seen with lead single "Walk the Wire." Fueled by a gritty guitar and synth groove, and buoyed by the honest, organic production style employed by Johns, the song is a bold new statement of intent. Another first for Boy & Bear with 'Limit Of Love' was to write as a collective. With the demands of the previous year's touring Hosking – usually the band's main songwriter – hadn't had time to craft fully fledged songs. Most of the writing for 'Limit Of Love' took place through the first half of 2015, including some particularly focused sessions on the N.S.W. South Coast. It was here, Killian Gavin, Tim Hart, Jon Hart and Dave Symes with Hosking, for the first time collaborated on a number of songs including "Walk the Wire."

On 'Multi-Love,' Unknown Mortal Orchestra frontman and multi-instrumentalist Ruban Nielson reflects on relationships: airy, humid longing, loss, the geometry of desire that occurs when three people align. Where Nielson addressed the pain of being alone on II, Multi-Love takes on the complications of being together The threads of our past never unravel, they hover like invisible webs, occasionally glistening due to a sly angle of the sun. On 'Multi-Love,' Unknown Mortal Orchestra frontman and multi-instrumentalist Ruban Nielson reflects on relationships: airy, humid longing, loss, the geometry of desire that occurs when three people align. Where Nielson addressed the pain of being alone on II, Multi-Love takes on the complications of being together. 'Multi-Love' adds dimensions to the band's already kaleidoscopic approach, with Nielson exploring a newfound appreciation for synthesizers. The new songs channel the spirit of psych innovators without ignoring the last 40 years of music, forming a flowing, cohesive whole that reflects restless creativity. Cosmic escapes and disco rhythms speak to developing new vocabulary, while Nielson's vocals reach powerful new heights. "It felt good to be rebelling against the typical view of what an artists is today, a curator," he says. "It's more about being someone who makes things happen in concrete ways. Building old synthesizers and bringing them back to life, creating sounds that aren't quite like anyone else's. I think that's much more subversive." While legions of artists show fidelity to the roots of psychedelia, Unknown Mortal Orchestra shares the rare quality that makes the genre's touchstones so vital: constant exploration.

  14. Like the two Elvis collections that came before it, 'A Love So Beautiful' is produced by Don Reedman and Nick Patrick. The album combines the elegant and spirited arrangements of Roy's best original vocal performances with the emotion and world-class musicianship of London's most beloved orchestra. 'A Love So Beautiful' features the timeless Roy tracks "Oh, Pretty Woman", "You Got It", "Crying" and more while breathing new life into fan favorites such as "Drove All Night" and the title track "A Love So Beautiful" making for a beautiful exploration into the mastery of Roy's vocals. Additionally, the album will feature instrumental backing from "Roy's boys": his three sons Wesley, Roy Jr. and Alex; plus Roy's grandson Roy Orbison III. The spiritual collaboration between three generations of Orbisons makes A Love So Beautiful a truly special experience, not just for fans, but for Roy's sons as well. Having never had the opportunity to record with their father in his lifetime, this collaboration makes for an emotional homecoming for Wesley, Roy Jr., Alex and Roy III. The material covered on A Love So Beautiful is vast, ranging from the Sun Records era of Roy's career as a rockabilly musician in the 1950s ("Ooby Dooby"), through his early-mid 60s material on the Monument label where he hit his first commercial peak ("In Dreams," "Blue Angel," "Crying," "Dream Baby," "I'm Hurtin'," "It's Over," "Mean Woman Blues," "Only the Lonely," "Oh, Pretty Woman," "Love Hurts," "Uptown") up to his comeback in the late 80s before his untimely passing ("You Got It," "I Drove All Night," "A Love So Beautiful").

It also features stunning original cover artwork by acclaimed American artist Harry Underwood. 'When We Talk About Love' can only be described as Oh Mercy's most personal body of work to date. Alex Gow recently spent time in Nashville, Portland and Los Angeles writing the songs, disconnected and rootless - a "romantic saboteur" if you will. Gow is one of Australia's most acclaimed singer/songwriters. Releasing three albums by the time he was 25, he won the 'Outstanding Potential Award' at the AMP's in 2009 and was awarded the EG Music 'Outstanding Achivement' Award in 2012. Danish punk rock band, Iceage, from Copenhagen unleash their third album, an anthemic sound of a band in motion. 'Plowing Into The Field Of Love,' recorded by Jens Benz and Nis Bysted at Koppom, Sweden's Silence Studios (and produced by Bysted and Iceage), channels the rage and emotion of their tempestuous early releases into finely honed musicianship. The album features piano, mandolin, viola and organ atop Johan Suurballe-Wieth's razor-sharp guitars and the lolloping, synchronized rhythm section of Jacob Tvilling Pless and Dan Kjær Nielsen. The record has a clear, uncompressed sound, and Elias Bender Rønnenfelt's desperate vocals are out front, nakedly accountable for the words.

A throwback to the days when an album's thrills and beauty were found not just in exceptional songs and musicianship, but also in its blemishes and simplicity, the instruments and vocals for 'Bring Me Your Love' were carefully recorded live off the floor, giving the songs depth and intimacy, and eschewing the cut-and-paste approach that is so common in today's recordings. 'Bring Me Your Love' features Canadian Music Hall of Famer Gordon Downie of The Tragically Hip, who adds his distinctive vocals to the track 'Sleeping Sickness', and also includes appearances by friends and labelmates Dan Romano and Spencer Burton (Attack in Black).

Whether you're classy or edgy, prefer the subtle notes of flowers in bloom or the high-spirited fruity scents, there's a fragrance for you. Perfumes even make an excellent gift. The ancient Egyptians began using perfumes and we have continued that to this day. Fragrances can be inspired from anything — from Burberry's trench coat to the scents that capture seasons or a garden. When selecting a perfume, look for the 'notes' — top notes are smells perceived immediately, middle or heart notes mask the initial impression of the base note (which can be unpleasant at first, then become more pleasant) and the base notes, which appear after the top and middle notes have dissipated. Perfumes even come in various dilutions — parfum or extrait, esprit de parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette and eau de cologne, in decreasing dilution.
