  9. De Bortoli brought on some expert talent to help make this wine - us! Yes, the Cracka buying team helped blend up this wine, leaving the other stuff (like growing the grapes) up to De Bortoli. Net result is a Chardonnay we're very pleased with - from the superb 2012 vintage, this has subtle (largely old) oak, some nice leesy richness and underpinned by bright, crisp acidity. A lovely, vibrant modern Yarra Valley Chardonnay that we're taking all the credit for!

  10. Heathcote, the home of Victoria's biggest and best Shiraz is the natural home of our Tyrrell's Red Dirt Shiraz, which looks bigger and badder this year. We caught up with Bruce Tyrrell recently and said 'let’s make this wine even better'. So we tasted some barrels, selected the very best and have bottled the very first Tyrrell's Red Dirt Reserve Heathcote Shiraz. If you liked the 2010, you will love the new 2013 vintage - It is bigger, bolder, rounder (thanks to the warm vintage) and with some extra tannin oomph that will help it get even better in the cellar. We recommend you decant it to get the very best out of this bad boy.

  11. “outstanding future." – 96 Points James Halliday 95 Points Huon Hooke Following the brilliant 2015, mother nature provided a dramatic encore in producing another remarkable vintage in 2016. The El Nino had started to throw its weight around, giving us consistently warm and dry conditions, but then, a counter punch to the rising drought: 90mm of rain in the last week of January. Perfect timing and an undoubted blessing given the heat that was rolling down the line. The thermometer hit the mid-30s pretty regularly through February and March. The grapes ripened at a steady clip but one key factor put a brake on their progress: the size of the crop. Not more bunches necessarily, but certainly more grapes per bunch. Flavours developed beautifully while acids regally held their ground. To my palate the acid impact is perfectly balanced. A Riesling for lovers of the mythical minerality. It will be very long lived. – Source Winery "Pale straw-green; accelerates continuously from the first floral whiff through to the aftertaste; the mid-palate progressively builds ripe lime flavours as the wine is retasted, but is matched by the flinty acidity of the finish and lingering aftertaste. Sustained by that acidity, it has an outstanding future." – 96 Points James Halliday “Effortless drinking here, with a high quality feel. Zips along on piercing acidity that drills a zingy hole through the juicy, cool, limey fruit character found in the wine. Aromas are floral, citrussy, lime and kaffir lime leaf, ginger scented, faintly yeasty. Pretty as. Fresh, flirty, then finishes with fine, chalk-meets-crushed-slate vibe. That tight clip to the finish says cellar long.” – 93+ Points Mike Bennie “Bright, light straw colour with green tints. The aromas are scintillating fresh, clean, bright and lifted. Citrus blossoms. Very delicate on the palate as well as nose. Restrained, refined, subtle and clean. A slight saltiness to finish." – 95 Points Huon Hooke

  12. The winery and vineyards are set amongst the rolling hills in the Polish Hill River region of the beautiful and historic Clare Valley. Pristine aromas of lime, lemon and grapefruit dominate initially, with some gentle floral notes kicking in behind these. Maybe just a suggestion of wet slate/stones too. Very typical and very attractive. On the Palate fresh, crisp and dry as it always is upon release. The palate is chockful of the citrus characters aforementioned, well balanced by the zingy acid that provides much of the drive to the finish. Finishes clean and dry with just a hint of textural grip. “Lime juice and barley sugar, a floral perfume with some kaffir lime leaf. It’s juicy, limey, feels just straying into the zone of subtle sweetness, but the acid crunch, lime rind in tonic, and subtle chalky texture keeps it neat and tasty. Approachable. Good fun too.” – 93 Points Gary Walsh
