  2. Heggies has always been constantly good, and great value, and this 2014 version is no different. Made in a dry style, it shows lovely aromas of lemons, limes, wet stone and jasmine florals on the nose, whilst the palate is light, tight and zippy with citrus and ginger spice flavours, frisky acidity, and a bright, lip-smacking finish that would see this match well with sushi and sashimi. Stick a few bottles in the the cellar and watch it develop toast and honey characters over the next 7 to 10 years.

  3. Pewsey Vale Eden Valley Riesling is rich in taste and history. In 1847, shortly after his arrival from England, Joseph Gilbert built a fine homestead in Eden Valley and planted the region's first grapevines. This wine has great length and depth with limes, fresh rosemary, white pepper and a hint of tropical fruit. The wine finishes with a fresh natural acidity which balances the flavour intensity and a minerality that will reward medium to long-term cellaring.

  4. Another superb Riesling from Peter Lehmann. Typically steely and minerally in true Eden Valley style with crisp citrus flavours and taut structure. The point of difference with great Eden Valley Riesling's is the beautiful palate weight and structure that not only lends itself to drinking upon release, but also develops in the cellar to reveal and complex and full bodied beauty.

  6. This Eden Valley wine represents at the more butch end of the riesling scale with about 13% alcohol. There's plenty of ripe apple, pear and subtle stone fruits on the nose, with sniffs of lemon and honeysuckle. The palate is quite dry and still lighter-bodied, with juicy peach and citrus flavours, bright acidity, and a refreshing and friendly finish that isn't too sharp.

  10. Why oh why has Riesling not had its time in the sun? We simply don’t understand those that choose to ignore the beauty of this white variety. For those of you who do like it, you feel content that no-one understands your little secret. This wine is from the High Eden and shows a lifted nose of citrus and florals, it possesses an immense citrus core and some spicy notes. It drinks well in it’s youth but if you have the will power put it away for several years to see how it develops into a honeyed, toasty nectar.

  16. Not Your Grandma's riesling may allude to the fact this is a dry style of riesling rather than the really sweet ones from back in the day, but that's not to say your grandma won’t like this one, too.

  17. John Vickery is the acknowledged old master of Riesling in Australia, with an illustrious career spanning over fifty years, culminating in the extraordinary awards tally of more than fifty Trophies and over four hundred Gold Medals. The Rieslings he crafted from Watervale (in the Clare Valley) and Eden Valley (in the Barossa) stand tall as the epitome of this most majestic grape variety, each with a unique South Australian and sub-regional thumbprint. Vickery wines are made in collaboration with talented winemaker and family friend Philip Lehmann, so that John’s winemaking methods and knowledge will be preserved and passed on for generations to come, for the benefit of all lovers of classic Australian Riesling. As with the ’16 vintage, fruit was sourced from the Zander, Mason and Riley family vineyards in Eden Valley. John and Phil were really impressed with the fruit quality of Terry and Jan Riley’s site, and chose to take on an extra parcel - from their thirty-six year old ‘House Block’. Following picking, in the first week of April, the grapes were pressed and fermented at our Barossa winery, with the usual emphasis on minimal handling. Each parcel was kept separate until the final blending where only the best components were included for the 2017 Eden Valley Riesling Pale straw with green flecks, Well-perfumed with delicate floral and a wonderful purity of flavour, fine notes of lemon blossom and mineral lime citrus. Lively and precise.
