Amazon's Big Smile Sale is live!
Amazon’s first big sale of the year is here. Its annual Big Smile Sale started at 12am on Monday 17 March and will run for a full week until 11.59 on Sunday 23 March. This sale features a wide range of discounts on tech including headphones, power banks and Amazon Echo devices as well as lots of home appliances, fashion and beauty items, groceries and more.

Philips’ simplest and smallest air fryer has also proven to be one of its most popular models. The Essential Air Fryer’s 4.1L size is great for smaller households and those with compact kitchens, and it’s simple to operate with time and temperature dials plus 12 cooking modes that can be accessed via controls on the top. This 57% discount isn’t the lowest price we’ve seen but it is still a very decent amount and if you’re keen to try an air fryer, this one offers good quality at a fair price.

We all know about the Apple AirTag, but did you know that Samsung has its own version called the Galaxy SmartTag? This four pack of Galaxy SmartTag2s is perfect for Samsung or other Android users who want to keep track of their belongings. Currently 24% off for a 4-pack, that makes the cost of each tracker a smidge under $25.

With all these sales, there are lots of opportunities during the year to shop at Amazon while there are discounts, you just have to know when they are!

Amazon membership program
Amazon’s customer membership program is called Amazon Prime and it costs $9.99 per month, or $79 for an annual membership in Australia. First time members can also get a 30-day free trial where they can get a taste of all the perks that come with an Amazon Prime membership.
It’s easy to sign up for Amazon Prime and the perks are well worth it for loyal Amazon customers who use the platform regularly.

Amazon Prime Day
Amazon Prime Day is an annual sales event held by Amazon where Prime Members are offered access to exclusive discounts.
In 2023, Amazon Prime Day kicked off in Australia at 12:01am AEST on July 11 and deals continued until 11:59pm on July 12. Aussies were then able to shop international offers on Amazon while Prime Day continued overseas, thanks to the timezone difference. This means that the Prime Day sales continued for a total of 65 hours.
Amazon also launched its first ever Big Deal Days sale in 2023. This was basically a second Amazon Prime Day, which occurred from 10 - 11 October.
These two major sales events featured massive discounts on lots of popular items including the PlayStation 5, lots of Apple products, smartwatches, headphones, earbuds and more. The price cuts we saw on some of these items are reason enough to sign up for Amazon Prime membership.
What is Amazon’s annual earning in sales?
According to ASIC, Amazon Australia’s Commercial Services made $2.63 billion in sales during the 2022 calendar year. This figure is a 47.7% increase on the amount it made in 2021.
Amazon’s online stores accounted for $1.29 billion of the total sales, while almost $182 million came from third party marketplace revenue and almost $103 million came from subscription services such as Amazon Prime.
