Prime Day is one of Amazon’s biggest yearly sales and it’s dedicated to the online retail giant’s paying members.
The 48-hour sale gives Prime members the opportunity to spoil themselves and buy items they’ve been eyeing off while they are discounted. During the sale we usually see the prices slashed on a wide range of items, from popular tech products such as PlayStations, iPhones, smartwatches and speakers, to fashion and accessories, homeware products like furniture and kitchen appliances, and plenty more. Even pantry essentials like pasta, spices and drinks are discounted during Prime Day!
Most offers available during Amazon Prime Day are exclusively available to those with a Prime subscription, so if you want to take advantage of these deals, it’s worth becoming an Amazon Prime member.
How much does Amazon Prime membership cost?
In Australia, Amazon Prime costs $9.99 per month or $79 annually and, if you haven’t signed up before, you get a 30-day free trial to see if you like it before committing any cash to. As well as being able to access exclusive Amazon Prime deals, Prime members also get lots of other perks, including free express shipping on eligible items, free international delivery on items costing AU$49 or more, free access to some other Amazon services like Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading and more!
When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?
The dates for 2024 Amazon Prime Day have not yet been announced and we don’t expect any official confirmations until about a couple of weeks prior to the sale. However, in previous years it has always taken place in mid July, so if Amazon continues this pattern, we can expect the next Prime Day to be around 15 July.
Will there be a second Prime Day in 2024?
Last year Amazon held another sale called Prime Big Deal Days in October. While officially not promoted as a second Prime Day, it was too similar to the main sale to not be dubbed as Prime Day 2. While we can’t be sure if this will happen again this year, we have high hopes that we will see a second Amazon Prime sale later this year.
When are Amazon's other sales?
While Amazon Prime Day sales are only available to Prime members, Amazon holds multiple other sales throughout the year featuring discounts that are available to everyone.
These sales include Amazon’s mid-year sale in June, Black Friday in November and Boxing Day in December.

- Create a Wishlist: Amazon allows you to save the items you would like to purchase into a wish list, with the prices getting updated in real time and you can add them to cart when you're happy with the offer
- Get Alexa to create a list: If you have an Alexa speaker – like an Echo smart speaker or display – you can start a shopping list by saying, "Alexa, start a Prime Big Deals Day list" and you can keep adding items to your shopping list as you think of them in the lead up to the sale
