This year, Black Friday falls on Friday November 29 but most retailers start their sales a few weeks prior. Myer was founded by Sidney Myer and his brother Elcon who opened the first store in Bendigo, Victoria in 1900. Following Sidney’s passing in 1934, the company was run by Sidney’s nephew, Sir Norman Myer.
