We predict that Myer’s next big sale will be its Black Friday sale in November. Along with a long list of other retailers, Myer tends to have a big sale during the Black Friday sales period every year. This year, Black Friday falls on Friday November 29 but most retailers start their sales a few weeks prior. Myer was founded by Sidney Myer and his brother Elcon who opened the first store in Bendigo, Victoria in 1900. Following Sidney’s passing in 1934, the company was run by Sidney’s nephew, Sir Norman Myer.  

Since 2018, Myer has been managed by CEO and Managing Director, John King. 

Today, Myer is one of Australia’s biggest department stores. It sells a massive variety of products, including fashion, homewares, beauty, toys and tech and customers have the option to shop in store at one of its many locations around Australia, or online from the comfort of their own homes.

In 2022, Myer had its most successful year in 18 years in 2022, where it made a total of $3.36 billion in sales. Of this total, $690.50 million came from online sales alone. 

In 2023, Myer made a profit of $71.1 million which is a drastically better result than the half a billion it lost in 2018.

Myer offers free in store returns within 30 days of purchase as long as your item meets the returns policy and you have proof of purchase.  

If you purchased your item online, you can return it via post. You can either choose to post via Parcel Point or Australia Post. If you choose Parcel Point, you will have to pay an Australia-wide fee of $7.99. If you choose to return through Australia post, it will cost $13.10.
