Unmissable gaming deals: The PS5 and Meta Quest 2 have hit their lowest-ever Aussie prices

Attention budget-conscious gamers: if you’re in the market for a new gaming device, it could be time to loosen those purse strings, as two of the most popular gaming devices of 2024 are currently on sale for record low prices at Amazon.

The first of these deals is for Sony’s PlayStation 5 – and specifically the revised slimmer version that was released in the second half of last year. We’ve seen this one discounted previously, but not as deeply as this week’s deal.

Sony’s supremely popular PS5 console was recently released in a new, slimmer model which is significantly less bulky than the original PS5, meaning it’s less visually imposing and a bit easier to store in a media cabinet – but it still has all the original PS5 features, including great gaming performance and fast download times.

This slim model is currently down to $685 at Amazon, which is a 14% discount and the lowest ever price we’ve seen for this model in Australia. Note that this version also comes with a disc drive, which can help save space on the built-in 1TB drive and means you’re not restricted to just downloading all your games from the PlayStation Store.

Alternatively, if you’ve ever wanted to try out VR gaming, the 128GB Meta Quest 2 is also on sale at Amazon this week for only $359, or $80 off the regular price.

While this discount comes amid speculation of a Meta Quest 3 Lite hitting the market sometime soon and is expected to be cheaper than the $900 Meta Quest 3, it will likely still be far more expensive than this Meta Quest 2 deal. So, if you’re in the market for a VR headset that won’t break the bank, it’s unlikely you’ll find cheaper than this discount from Amazon anytime soon.

The 128GB Meta Quest 2 is already the cheapest big-name VR headset on the market, and this 18% discount makes it even cheaper by shaving a further $80 off the price. This is the perfect option for anyone who’s keen to try VR but has been discouraged by the price. It’s a high-quality product from Meta (the company that owns Facebook) with hundreds of apps and games that can be downloaded directly to the device from its built-in store. It can work as a standalone wireless unit, or be plugged into a gaming PC (via an optional USB cable accessory) for an even great range of VR experiences.
