7 great Father’s Day gifts to buy on Amazon for under $50
You don’t have to spend top dollar to find dad – or the father figure in your life – a great gift.
Every year, on the first Sunday of September, Aussies celebrate their dads, or the father figure in their lives. It's also about would-be and expecting dads too, not just the ones who have or are raising kids.
And what better way to celebrate these amazing human beings – our role models – than by getting them a little something to say thank you: thank you for being there for us, thank you for being such awesome people, for loving us and raising us with oh-so-much patience.
One of the best places to shop in Australia without leaving the comfort of home is Amazon. Not just because it's a one-stop-shop for a whole plethora of items that any dad would love, but also because you can get select items delivered in a day or two. For that to happen, however, you will need to be a Prime member.
If you don't already know what an Amazon Prime membership is, then here's the short version: it's a subscription program that costs $9.99 a month or $79 a year, will get every new member a 30-day free trial along with free and fast shipping on millions on eligible items. This fast shipping can be as quick as same day or go up to two days, depending on where you live. As a member you get exclusive access to early deals and the ability to shop during Amazon's biggest sale – Prime Day. The subscription also includes a bunch of other services for free, like Prime Video, Prime Reading and Prime Gaming.
Sounds good? You can sign up now if you aren't already a member and claim your 30-day free trial to shop gifts for Father's Day right now.
You don't even need to spend a lot of money as Amazon has a bunch of great gift items that cost under $50. And some of them are discounted even further.

Thoughtfully Gourmet's Smokehouse spice set | $49.99
Does dad love to grill and barbecue? This rub and spice set might just be the ticket to his heart. There are 20 different salts and rubs for him to try, albeit in small quantities, but it will allow him to experiment and create great flavours for the whole family. It's a win-win! Thoughtfully is an American company that specialises in food and drink items, including the below range of hot sauces.
Thoughtfully Gourmet Master Hot Sauce Collection | $49.99
If dad likes it hot, then get him some heat this Father's Day! And if you have no idea what exactly will tickle his fancy, then this set of 30 hot sauces is sure to make him drool. Each bottle is only 20ml (0.7oz), but at least he'll be able to sample a wide variety with some of his fave dishes – from tacos to wings, grilled meat to pasta.
Penfolds Father 10yo tawny | $39.44
Penfolds is one of the oldest wineries in Australia, started in 1844, and it's now grown into a large company making some award-winning wines. Among it all is this 10-year-old tawny (or port wine) that dad might enjoy after dinner. Tawny is a fortified wine, so will be sweet, and its alcohol content is 18% by volume. And if you hurry, you might even be able to save a few dollars as Amazon has it discounted to $34.99 currently.
M.A.D For Everything whisky set | $49.95
Dad love a dram? Then let him drink in style with this whisky set. Arriving in a handcrafted wooden box, it's an easy gift to wrap up. Inside are two glasses, eight granite stones, a metal tong to pick up said stones and a velvet pouch to store these stones in the freezer. The stones replace ice if dad doesn't want his dram diluted while keeping his whisky cool.
Who doesn't like to play with building blocks? OK, maybe not everyone, but if there's a young boy hiding behind dad's strong facade, then he might appreciate a Lego set. It's not just for the young 'uns after all. While a lot of the Lego sets that dad would appreciate cost over $50, there are some that are great value for just under. For example, if he's a Star Wars fan, then the Boba Fett, Stormtrooper and Darth Vader Mech sets are under $24. The Nissan Skyline GT-R from 2 Fast 2 Furious is $32.99 (discounted down to $29), while the Indiana Jones Fighter Plane Chase set is $49.99 (discounted to $43.99). There are always discounts on Lego sets on Amazon, so check them out.
All-in-one multi-tool | $24.99
We'd love to recommend something like a Leatherman here, but if you don't have the cash to spare, then something like this multi-tool will be quite useful for any handyman dad. There's 13 different tools in the one package here, including a hammer, pliers, Philips screwdriver, bottle opener, wire cutters, nail claw, saw blade and a knife. The list goes on! While we haven't used this tool ourselves, the Amazon shoppers who have seem to be quite happy. 60% of the 68 reviewers have given it a 5-star rating.
Joseph Joseph Sipp travel mug (454ml) | $34.95
Some of us here at Getprice are big fans of Joseph Joseph products, including this travel mug. Made from BPA-free polypropylene, this is a large-capacity mug that will be handy if dad is on the road a lot. The flip-top cap completely covers the mouth, so it stays dust-free and prevents spills. It can be popped open with one hand and the grip is non-slip too. If the 454ml is too big, there are 340ml options available in a couple of different colours. And they're all currently discounted too.
